  • Graduated (1990), Master (1993) and PhD (1997) in Chemistry at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil;

  • Post-Doc research at the National Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS), Brazil (1997-1998);

  • Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry of the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil (starting in March/1998), where he is the leader of the Materials Chemistry Group (GQM);

  • Full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC);

  • Commander of the National Order of Scientific Merit, awarded by the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil in 2023;

  • Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC);

  • Full member of the Brazilian Chemical Society, of which he was President (2016-2018) and also served as Director of the Materials Chemistry Division (2008-2010), Secretary General (2012-2014) and member of the Advisory Board (2018-2022, 2024-2026);

  • Member of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC) Advisory Board (2021-2025);

  • Member of the Steering Committee of the "National Institute of Science and Technology of Carbon Nanomaterials", where he was vice-coordinator from 2016 to 2021;

  • Member of several thematic advisory committees on nanotechnology of CNPq (2005, 2011 and 2012) and of the Funding Agency for Studies and Projects (FINEP) (2004, 2005, 2010);

  • Recognized for Academic Merit by UFPR in 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2019, and elected personality of the year in the area of ​​Science and Research by Diário Comércio e Indústria do Paraná (2017-2018);

  • Recognized as one of the two most influential researchers in his field in the world (Stanford University, USA);

  • His main lines of research are related to the synthesis and characterization of nanoscale materials (such as nanotubes, graphene and other forms of carbon, nanocomposites, metallic nanoparticles, 2D materials, conductive polymers and Prussian blue analogues) at liquid/liquid interfaces, and the study of the application of these nanomaterials in sensors, photovoltaic devices, batteries, capacitors and catalysts;
